24 August 2008 - 20:09A Bit of Down Time
Wow. So it was June since my last serious post.
Well, quite a bit has changed since my last post updating everyone on what was going on. Most people whom read this blog (if anyone) already know what’s going on anyway…
So, where to start?
- Amber and I (and the kids) are back together as a family unit. It took around three weeks for us to get back to the point where we would be able to be together again. Even with the ups and downs of normal life, it has been nothing more than a pleasure and a gift to be with my family again.
- So, with that last bullet point in mind… Amber and I are getting married again! (3rd time’s a charm, right?) This will hopefully be the marriage that Amber had always dreamed of. One of white dresses, family, and a dedication of our love.
- Oh… Followed by a honeymoon to the uh… well… I’ll let Amber tell everyone about where it will be. Just think a nice long first class plane trip on an airline that provides the best first class in the world. (Air India? hehe)
- We’ve finally moved to the house that was supposed to be ready in March. It’s brand new. Even with it’s poor workmanship, it’s about 100 times better than where we used to live. It’s in town, close to town center, and a block away from the bus station. The only down side is the brats that live in the same housing complex as we do. (Can we say vandalism and parental irresponsibility?)
- The kids have been enrolled in preschool now. Personally, I think they are still a bit young for it. But, they seem to be doing quite well and it gives Amber some time in the day to have some time for chores or for herself.
- I quit my job at a local supermarket for another job… But the guy whom offered me the new job bailed on me and never called back or returned my calls. This wonderful action has caused yet another period of unemployment for me. Going on two months now without a bite from anyone after many resumes (CVs) have been sent out.
- Good news from the unemployment is that I’ve been enrolled in a 13 week program that will hopefully have a job at the end of it. The first week was spent ‘teaching’ us (there was a group of 6 of us) the basics of job searching and what employers want. Not too sure that the ‘training’ side of it was of any worth, but if a job close to home comes from it, it’s well worth every minute. This week is the process of looking for a placement for the next 11 - 12 weeks… Pray that something good comes of this!
- There’s one other note from the unemployed side of life. I’ve been volunteering at the local Fishermen’s Mission in town. It’s been one of the best work experiences that I’ve had to date. I’ve been helping sort out their computers, while at the same time taking some of the administrative pressure from the superintendent freeing him up for more important things. This has really made me realize that given the right situation, I love working on computers still.
So, that’s been my life for the past two months in a nut shell. I hope to be able to update this blog more often in the future… But, life seems to be getting more and more busy.
Here’s a picture for the road…
